Adelaida Fugents is one of the patients at Oswald Asylum. According to her medical records, she was the victim of sexual abuse by an unknown person that almost killed her, and that the trauma she suffered from it has created auditory hallucinations and thought disorder within her. Doctor Deern took her case and she started drawing therapy with him, which appears to benefit her as it keeps her from hurting herself.

Appearance

Adelaida is a 7-year old girl with short dark brown hair, and she wears blue pajamas with tiny yellow dots on the pants. She also has deep self-inflicted cuts on her wrists.

Under the effects of Duotine, Fran sees Adelaida as a fabric doll with blood dripping from its mouth and a shadow looming above her.

Personality

Adelaida is obsessed with drawing, as evidenced by the walls of her room at the Asylum being covered in doodles. She also appears joyful while drawing and enjoys talking about it, likely because it's easy to talk about. She claims she cannot see the shadows and only knows about them through the other children in the asylum, this is likely because drawing distracts her from seeing them. She's traumatized to the point of hurting herself but takes the situation seriously enough to ask for band-aids to stop the bleeding.

Trivia

  • Adelaida refers to blood as "red milk", meaning she doesn't really understand the severity of harming herself. That being said, she seems to dislike it happening and gives Fran her green crayon for fixing her cuts with the band-aids.
  • When inspecting Adelaida's room under the effects of Duotine, many red hand-prints can be seen on her bed and on the breast and genitalia on her fabric doll "body", hinting towards her trauma of being sexually assaulted and nearly killed. Additionally, the shadow looming over and groping the Adelaida doll talks about her innocence being devoured and nobody believing her despite the obvious, blaming her rather than the abuser.
  • Likely, the shadow haunting Adelaida symbolizes her abuser. It has a beard, suggesting it her abuser may have been an older man.
